Seller Insights
Hey folks — your friendly neighborhood Merfolk here!🧜
What’s new?
Well if you haven’t already noticed we’ve added some new seller insights to the detailed overview on the individual product pages! I’ve been going back and forth for a while trying to figure out what other metrics would help out other mtg sellers and finally the dataset has grown large enough to support some more meaningful insights.
State of the Union
The MTG market has shifted noticeably over the past year. Since becoming a legitimate business, I’ve had a chance to track some interesting trends.
On the supply side, the difference is striking. Back in November and December 2024, I was picking up Baldur’s Gate at around $88 a box and Foundations Play boosters at roughly $99. Those margins were solid.
Fast forward to today, and it’s clear the seller landscape has become more competitive. Established products move quickly, while newer releases face an uphill battle gaining traction partly due to brand dilution across the broader IP. From a business perspective, Final Fantasy’s integration created some market challenges, while Spiderman actually helped by raising the barrier to entry and filtering out less committed sellers.
Looking ahead to 2026, I think we’ll see a clearer separation between sellers who managed risk effectively this year and built sustainable systems versus those who didn’t. Fingers crossed I’m in the first camp!
Conclusion
Hope you find these new metrics useful! I’d genuinely love to hear if they’re helping you make better decisions feel free to shoot me a message. And if you’re technically inclined and want to help improve the platform, PRs are always welcome.
Later, alligators. 🐊
