Units rose 8.9% and revenue barely moved. That one sentence tells you everything about where this week’s prices went. TCGPlayer moved $813,530 across 5,506 units and 4,408 orders over 79 products, up just 2.1% from $797,146, with the daily tape landing between $117,160 and $147,142 every single day. The Hobbit’s Play Booster Display absorbed a 35% supply wave at a 9% markdown, and a Gift Bundle launch that our tracked table missed entirely did $53K on its own (covered in the supply section). More boxes sold, at lower prices, adding up to almost the same total. The seller pool grew to 585 located sellers, 41 more than last week.
Manapool did $64,518 across 482 units and 325 orders over 49 products.

Wilds of Eldraine Set Booster Display leads TCGPlayer gainers at +13.81%, on all of 11 orders. What caught my eye anyway is the seller side, because supply grew +20.46% and the seller count rose +18.75% while the price climbed. Sellers are listing into a three-year-old set’s strength, not chasing it down. Direction noted; the base is too thin to lean on.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Commander Deck Turtle Power gained +13.68% on TCGPlayer on a shelf that didn’t move. The strange part is that the same deck fell almost exactly as much on Manapool while its supply there jumped by half (numbers in the Manapool note below). Two venues, same week, opposite verdicts. I don’t have an explanation that survives contact with both charts, so I’m reporting the split and leaving it at that.

Aetherdrift Commander Deck Living Energy rose +12.34% on TCGPlayer on 23 units with supply easing 6.8%. A small mover on a deep 211-unit shelf. Nothing structural, just a deck drifting up while nobody’s watching the Aetherdrift Commander line.

Starter Commander Deck Grave Danger is last week’s worst decliner wearing a gainer’s badge. The -10% markdown I covered seven days ago did exactly what markdowns are supposed to do: supply fell -19.86% as the discounted inventory cleared, and the price snapped back to $30.06, above where the whole round trip started. The sellers who competed each other down to $26.99 sold their product. The ones who waited got their price back.

Starter Commander Deck First Flight followed its sibling up, +9.03% with supply down -20.63% and sellers down -15.90%. Both Starter Commander decks tightened by a fifth in the same week. That’s a line-wide drain, not a single-product fluke, though at ~22 units a week each, it’s a slow-motion one.

Bloomburrow Commander Deck Animated Army finally got paid for the drain I flagged two weeks ago. The price rose +8.07% to $79.68, but here’s the wrinkle: the drain itself paused. Supply bounced +7.66% and sellers came back +8.87%. So the price gain is trailing the scarcity that already happened, and the market’s response to that higher price was restocking. Whether the returning supply caps the move is next week’s question.
On Manapool, The Hobbit Play Booster Pack (Manapool) jumped $6.21 -> $9.77 (+57.42%), with the entire move riding on 2 orders. Wilds of Eldraine Draft Booster Pack (Manapool) rose $10.50 -> $16.49 (+57.04%) on 3 orders, echoing the TCGPlayer-side WOE gain on equally thin tape. FINAL FANTASY Play Booster Pack (Manapool) rose $7.84 -> $10.64 (+35.65%) on 4 orders, its second large weekly swing in a row. Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Pack (Manapool) added +10.99% to $5.76 on 2 orders. The Hobbit Scene Box Crack the Plates (Manapool) rose $60.40 -> $65.56 (+8.53%) on 6 units, moving opposite to its TCGPlayer counterpart. All of these trade on single-digit order counts, so take direction only.

Marvel Super Heroes Bundle leads TCGPlayer decliners at -13.62%, and the volume tells you what kind of decline it is: units rose 53 to 70 while the 627-unit shelf stayed put. Sellers marked down a deep pile of inventory and buyers took the discount. That’s a clearance dynamic, not demand walking away, but it also means the shelf needs a lot more weeks like this one to actually thin out.

The Hobbit Prerelease Pack fell -11.45% to $39.52 with units up 153 to 188 and 19% more sellers competing. Same markdown-and-absorb shape as the Marvel bundle: the accessory tier of a month-old set finding its post-release level while volume grows into the lower price.

The Hobbit Scene Box Crack the Plates gave back the entire +13.46% gain I featured last week, falling -10.38% to $54.35 with supply flat and 62 units sold. The recovery-off-the-floor story I told seven days ago didn’t survive the week; with supply flat, the move came from sellers marking back down toward the $53.45 low. Sell-through 0.9241 says the demand is still clearing the shelf, so I’d expect the floor to get retested and hold.

The Hobbit Play Booster Display is the week’s main event. Supply surged +35.06% (avg qty 477.2 -> 644.5) and the seller count exploded +37.98% (83.6 -> 115.4), the biggest inventory wave any Hobbit product has taken since launch. Sellers cut asks -9.20% into it, and buyers absorbed essentially the whole thing: 635 units on 523 orders, sell-through 0.9853, $108,198 in revenue. The volume direction matters here. Units rose, so demand held; supply simply arrived faster than the old price could clear it. A distributor restock wave landing around the September 4 Gift Bundle launch week would fit the shape, though I found no announcement to confirm one.

Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck The Fantastic Four reversed last week’s gain, -9.09% as supply built +15.27% and 18% more sellers listed. The deck went up on a growing shelf last week and I called it a light uptick with no story. The shelf kept growing. Now there’s a story, and it’s gravity.

The Hobbit Bundle slid -8.39% to $64.11 on 104 units with supply flat. Unlike the Play Booster Display, there’s no supply wave to blame here, just a bundle grinding lower on steady volume as the set’s week-4 repricing touches everything.
On Manapool, Tarkir Dragonstorm Commander Deck Mardu Surge (Manapool) fell $84.58 -> $70.25 (-16.94%) on 10 units, flagged baseline_small_supply at 7.9 avg qty, so treat it cautiously. Mystery Booster 2 Booster Pack (Manapool) fell $15.28 -> $12.71 (-16.79%) on 2 orders. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Commander Deck Turtle Power (Manapool) fell $58.74 -> $50.71 (-13.67%) on 7 units while supply grew +48.60% (55.7 -> 82.7), the mirror image of its TCGPlayer gain covered above. FINAL FANTASY Collector Booster Sample Pack (Manapool) slipped -10.80% to $10.33 on 2 orders. Marvel Super Heroes Collector Booster Pack (Manapool) fell -9.72% to $38.02 on 13 units.
Supply / Velocity Read-Through
Last week I said the Hobbit Gift Bundle’s September 4 launch would clarify whether it stabilizes or keeps unwinding, and this week I reported nothing because the product wasn’t in our tracked table. That was the table’s failure, not the product’s. Our tracker requires 20 units sold in two consecutive weeks, and the Gift Bundle sold 15 the week before launch, so its launch week fell through the floor. I pulled it directly from the database: The Hobbit Gift Bundle did 402 units across 272 orders for $53,033 on TCGPlayer, VWAP $217.53 -> $131.92 (-39.4%), while listed inventory went from 158 units on August 31 to 1,031 by September 6 and the seller count went 21 to 129. The lowest ask fell $211.40 -> $113.99, still well above the $89.99 MSRP. So the answer to last week’s question: it continues unwinding, at scale, with launch supply flooding in far faster than even 400 units of weekly demand can eat. It clears the tracking floor next week and joins the table properly. Manapool added 27 units at a $115.66 VWAP.
The rest of the Hobbit line had its first genuinely supply-led week. The Collector Booster Display snapped its three-week gain streak, easing -3.72% to $809.49 as supply built +14.65%, and it still posted a 0.9741 sell-through. The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug contracted a second straight week (avg qty 96.4 -> 71.6, -25.68%) and its price turned positive at +2.56%. The slide I’ve been tracking on that box is over; the excess sellers from three weeks ago are gone.
Reality Fracture hit pause at the least convenient moment for anyone trying to read it. The Collector Booster Display stalled at $531.70 (-0.33%) on identical 72-unit volume while supply grew another +31.01% and 27% more sellers joined. Supply finally caught up to the preorder book, one day before spoiler season starts September 8. Whether the $550 test I set up last week resumes is now entirely a spoilers question. Meanwhile the Play Booster Display answered last week’s delay question emphatically: units nearly tripled, 89 to 293, at a flat $147.47. The Panama Canal delay didn’t suppress Play Booster preordering; if anything the book accelerated. And two RF products are consolidating: the Secret Lair Bundle added +36.74% supply while its seller count fell -32.99% to 9.1, fewer and bigger holders on a 0.8658 sell-through, and Reality Fracture Draft Night lost -34.77% of its sellers with supply only down -8.68%. The Prerelease Pack drained -25.69% ahead of the September 25 prerelease window with its price up +7.80%. On Manapool, the Reality Fracture Play Booster Display (Manapool) drained -34.41% (137.0 -> 89.9) as units more than doubled, 21 to 47.
Bloomburrow Play Booster Display posted the biggest supply drop on the board: avg qty 365.1 -> 208.1, -43.00%, while sellers only fell -7.01% and the price firmed +2.10% to $196.64 on flat units. Sellers mostly stayed; their inventory left. The read I got in this week’s interview is speculator buyout activity, but our listings data can’t distinguish product that was bought out from product that was delisted, and only 52 units crossed our sales tape. If it was a buyout, most of it happened off the public tape or in chunks we book as listings vanishing. Either way, 157 units of listed depth is gone and the price didn’t blink.
Foundations Play Booster Display split across venues. On TCGPlayer, supply fell -30.47% (146.7 -> 102.0) with sellers down -19.98% and the price firm at $172.63, a 0.5000 sell-through. On Manapool, supply grew +35.16% (82.3 -> 111.3) with the price easing -3.90% to $161.44. One venue tightening while the other builds inventory in the same week is the kind of divergence that usually resolves; I’m not claiming sellers are migrating, only that the gap now exists. Foundations Play Boosters stay reprint-eligible into 2029, so the TCGPlayer drain is a market event, not a scarcity event. Similarly on the Manapool side, the FINAL FANTASY Play Booster Display (Manapool) drained -25.89% at a flat price.
Star Trek’s preorder tape kept draining. The Play Booster Display lost -26.12% of its listed supply (151.4 -> 111.8) while units jumped 48 to 73 at a pinned $153.43. The Collector Booster Display dropped another -22.86% to 39.3 avg qty, its third consecutive weekly supply decline, held by 8 sellers with the price motionless at $699.35 and a 0.7123 sell-through. Ten weeks to the November 13 release, and full previews aren’t expected until mid-to-late October. Listed supply draining into flat prices with rising volume looks like patient accumulation ahead of the catalyst. Listings aren’t total supply, and sellers holding inventory back produces the same chart. But three straight weeks is a trend, not a blip.
The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Deck Explorers of the Deep flipped its script. After two weeks of the drain I’ve been covering, supply jumped +39.32% (22.1 -> 30.8) and sellers returned +28.80%, and the price rose anyway, +2.01% to $96.75 with a 1.0386 sell-through, 32 units on a 31-unit shelf. The drain did its job: the higher price pulled sellers back in, and demand absorbed every one of them. That’s what a healthy repricing looks like from the other side.
Edge of Eternities Play Booster Display supply fell -27.28% while units rose 59 to 77 at -2.37%, a markdown that got eaten, same shape as the Hobbit display at smaller scale. Aetherdrift Play Booster Display units more than tripled, 25 to 82, at a basically flat $99.83 on a 398-unit shelf, discount hunting on deep inventory. FINAL FANTASY Commander Deck Display did 96 units on just 28 orders, bulk-sized buys at a steady $196.73. Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster Display kept validating its clearing price: units doubled again, 148 to 321, at $112.31 (-1.20%) with supply easing -5.65%. Two straight weeks of doubling volume at a stable price is the demand curve announcing where it lives. Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Display kept tightening, +3.49% on supply down -12.08%, sell-through 0.7986. And the LotR Scene Boxes Set of 4 is the tightest thing on the board: sell-through 1.3104 at 58.8 avg qty, units up 55 to 77 at a flat $225.74.
| Product | Sell-Through | Avg Qty | Supply Δ | Sellers Δ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LOTR Scene Boxes Set of 4 | 1.3104 | 58.8 | +6.75% | -7.70% |
| The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Cmdr … | 1.0386 | 30.8 | +39.32% | +28.80% |
Tightest inventory on TCGPlayer: LotR Scene Boxes Set of 4 (sell-through 1.3104 at avg qty 58.8, turning over faster than the shelf refills), The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Deck Explorers of the Deep (1.0386 at 30.8, drain reversed but demand kept pace), The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug (0.9910 at 71.6, second week of contraction), The Hobbit Play Booster Display (0.9853 at 644.5, clearing a shelf that grew 35%), The Hobbit Collector Booster Display (0.9741 at 181.7), The Hobbit Scene Box Crack the Plates (0.9241 at 67.1), Bloomburrow Commander Deck Peace Offering (0.9202 at 79.3, supply down -18.31%, the quiet drain in the Bloomburrow Commander line now that Animated Army’s has paused), Reality Fracture Secret Lair Bundle (0.8658 at 95.9), Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Display (0.7986 at 48.8), and The Hobbit Collector Booster Omega Pack (0.7547 at 117.9).
Heaviest inventory on TCGPlayer: Marvel Super Heroes Play Booster Display at 956.0 avg qty, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Prerelease Pack (801.7), Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Pack (773.8), Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster Display (676.5, down 5.65% as volume doubled into it), The Hobbit Play Booster Display (644.5, up 35% and the only shelf on this list clearing itself weekly), Marvel Super Heroes Bundle (626.8), Reality Fracture Commander Deck Multiverse Reforged (605.4 of preorder depth), Marvel’s Spider-Man Play Booster Display (549.7), The Hobbit Prerelease Pack (523.7), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Play Booster Display (496.0). The Marvel Super Heroes line now holds three of the ten heaviest shelves.
Coverage ran 100.0% across 585 located sellers, up 41 from last week. Washington retook the top spot from Florida at 15.3% of located supply (22,940 units), with Florida at 9.2% (13,808), California 7.3% (11,000), Ohio 6.8% (10,191), Oregon 5.7% (8,556), New York 4.9% (7,397), Georgia 3.3% (4,878), Arizona 3.2% (4,795), Texas 3.2% (4,740), and Minnesota 2.5% (3,727). Top cities: Seattle 18,437, Kissimmee FL 5,417, Findlay OH 3,908, San Diego 2,859, Bayamón PR 2,800, Woodbury MN 2,688, Miami 2,650, Brooklyn 2,521.
Tarkir Dragonstorm Commander Deck Mardu Surge (Manapool) carries a baseline_small_supply flag at 7.9 avg qty; its -16.94% price move and +52.07% supply move are low-confidence, small-denominator readings. More broadly, this week’s Manapool pack-level movers (Hobbit Play Booster Pack +57.42% on 2 orders, WOE Draft Booster Pack +57.04% on 3, FF Play Booster Pack +35.65% on 4, Mystery Booster 2 Pack -16.79% on 2) all trade on single-digit order counts. Those are direction signals, not levels.
Opinionated Takeaways
The Hobbit Handed Pricing to the Supply Side
Four weeks in, demand hasn’t cracked; both displays still clear their shelves nearly every week. What changed is who sets the price. When inventory arrives in waves this size, sellers cut first and ask questions later, and buyers reward them for it. Watch supply arrival, not sales, if you want to know where Hobbit prices go next.
Reality Fracture Is Unreadable Until Sept 8
The preorder book paused exactly when supply caught up, which means this week’s flat price tells you nothing about demand. Spoiler season is the tiebreaker. If the Collector Display can’t get moving with new cards on screens, the pause was a top; if it can, it was a refuel.
Bloomburrow’s Shelf Didn’t Thin Itself
A 43% depth drop with sellers staying put and the price firm is inventory leaving, one way or another. The buyout read is plausible and unproven. The tell will come from relisting: if that depth reappears at higher asks in the coming weeks, someone took a position. If it just stays gone, it was consolidation.
Someone Is Building a Star Trek Position
Three straight weeks of supply decline on the Collector Display into a price that hasn’t moved a dollar, plus a Play Booster drain with volume rising. That’s the accumulation pattern, ten weeks before release, before previews give anyone a public reason. I can’t see whose hands it’s going into, and listed supply isn’t total supply, but the direction has held too long to be noise.
What To Watch Next Week
Reality Fracture spoiler season opens September 8. Whether the paused Collector Display book re-accelerates toward the $550 line, and whether the Secret Lair Bundle’s concentration (9 sellers holding a growing shelf at a 0.8658 sell-through) starts showing up in its price.
The Hobbit’s supply wave, both tiers. Does the 644-unit Play Booster shelf keep clearing at ~$170, or does the markdown deepen? And the Gift Bundle enters the tracked table next week after its 402-unit launch; the question is whether the slide toward the $89.99 MSRP finds a floor before it gets there.
Star Trek’s drain, week four? The Collector Display has now shed supply three weeks running into a frozen $699 price. Watch whether the Play Booster Display’s -26.12% follows through, and whether anything changes as October previews get closer.

Calculation Notes & Disclaimers
- Metrics are based on MTGsold internal sales/listing snapshots for the report window only.
avg qty= average of daily inventory (most complete scrape per day, by seller coverage), not a sum of all intraday listings.sell-through=units sold this week / avg qty this week; values above 1 indicate inventory turned over multiple times.- Percentage changes are week-over-week versus the prior-week baseline; very small baselines can exaggerate % moves.
- Listings are marketplace snapshots and may include relists, temporary removals, and scrape gaps, so flagged low-confidence moves should be treated cautiously.
- Marketplace sections are segmented to avoid cross-stream blending of metrics.
