Weekly Report (Jul 27 - Aug 2, 2026)
Weekly Market Pulse
The market looks like it woke up. TCGPlayer did $1,335,756.61 across 7,605 units and 6,163 orders over 86 products, revenue up 12.39% and units up 8.07% on last week. Then you see what carried it. The two Hobbit displays alone did $659,334.04, about 49% of the whole cohort, on a set that doesn’t come out until August 14. Pull those two boxes out and the week underneath was flat and a little soft. The 12% isn’t demand coming back, it’s the preorder book getting bigger.
Sort the board by supply and it’s a barbell. One end is product with no supply yet, because it isn’t printed: The Hobbit, half the cohort, clearing three to four times its shelf a week in pure preorder. The other end is product whose supply is leaving: Phyrexia All Will Be One Set Booster Display, which can’t be reprinted, up 8.24%, plus a cluster of older boxes draining for reasons I can’t name. The middle, where supply is heavy and fresh, is where the losses are: Marvel owns the three heaviest shelves on the board and every Marvel product on the decliner list fell 8% to 16%. Price is tracking availability, firm where it’s tight or gone, soft where it’s piling up. Gallery day fits the same read: on July 31, the day the full card gallery posted and the biggest sales day of the week at 1,501 units, the Collector Booster Display did the most business on the board, units 276 -> 511, at a slightly softer price, $834.66 -> $795.38 (-4.71%). Heavy volume at a lower average is sellers moving product into the hype, not a verdict on the box, so hold that one loosely into release. On Manapool, $71,364.84 across 397 units and 297 orders over 37 products.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Commander Deck Turtle Power tops the TCGPlayer gainers, and it’s a shelf nobody’s touching. A 0.1879 sell-through against 441.7 listings means the pile isn’t moving, so 83 units nudging the price up 13.18% is a thin tape, not a squeeze. Nothing dated behind it.

Phyrexia All Will Be One Set Booster Display is running its usual out-of-print grind. The pool only shrinks, so it drifts up on almost nothing, 24 units this week. The catch is that its listings actually rose, so take the direction and hold the size loosely.

Edge of Eternities Play Booster Display gained while its shelf came in, avg qty 139.3 -> 118.8 (-14.73%). It hit the one-year mark this month with listings draining and nothing dated to point at, so read it as supply, not a catalyst.

The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Deck Explorers of the Deep rose at a 0.8980 sell-through, a 2023 precon finally clearing its shelf down to 29 listings. Real move, small base, so take the direction and little else.

Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Display gained while a third of its listings walked off, avg qty 69.7 -> 45.9 (-34.20%). Second straight week of that exact shape, and it isn’t alone, so I’ve put the whole thing in the takeaways instead of treating this box on its own.
On Manapool the gainers are thin enough to read as direction and nothing more. Secrets of Strixhaven 60 Card Theme Deck Lifegain (Manapool) jumped $10.01 -> $18.50 (+84.82%) on 3 units across a single order, Secrets of Strixhaven Commander Deck Prismari Artistry (Manapool) added $37.17 -> $43.71 (+17.58%) on 6 units, Edge of Eternities Commander Deck World Shaper (Manapool) went $51.65 -> $56.00 (+8.42%) on 3 units, Zendikar Rising Draft Booster Box (Manapool) went $133.97 -> $145.04 (+8.26%) on 7 units as its listings drained avg qty 11.6 -> 8.0 (-30.86%), and FINAL FANTASY Play Booster Display (Manapool) went $223.51 -> $238.98 (+6.92%) on 7 units. Every one of these rests on 3 to 7 units.

Marvel Super Heroes Bundle leads the TCGPlayer decliners against a shelf that won’t budge, 89 units out of 667 listings at a 0.1334 sell-through. No event, just the plainest oversupply on the Marvel board, and the price is doing what oversupply does.

Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck The Fantastic Four fell as its listings and sellers both climbed. This is the regular-deck side of the restock: product piling on, price dropping to meet it. Every non-premium Marvel deck ran a version of it this week.

Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Booster Display fell again, a second straight week down, listings up 31.28% and sellers up 41.40%. Last week I asked when the restock would reach TCGPlayer, and this is it landing, the wave a retailer had dated to the end of July. The shortage that made this SKU pricey is unwinding on schedule.

Marvel Super Heroes Commander Deck Doom Prevails fell on the same wave, listings up 38.90%. Its Collectors Edition sibling went the other way and kept draining, but that’s one premium deck on thin volume, so I’m not hanging the Marvel read on it this week.

Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Pack eased as more of it hit an already-deep shelf, avg qty 712.5 -> 804.0 (+12.84%). At a 0.1132 sell-through, the heaviest overhang in the set just got heavier.

Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander Deck Blight Curse slipped at a 0.1921 sell-through against 291.5 listings, a six-month-old precon grinding through a deep pile. A small give there is the shelf talking, not the demand.
On Manapool the declines rest on the same tiny bases. The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Set Booster Pack (Manapool) fell $12.38 -> $9.60 (-22.46%) on 4 units in one order, The Hobbit Scene Box Crack the Plates (Manapool) fell $76.99 -> $59.83 (-22.29%) on 7 units as listings built avg qty 14.6 -> 25.7 (+76.47%), and The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug (Manapool) fell $104.90 -> $81.86 (-21.96%) on 8 units under a small-supply flag. Two more show the clearing signature outright: Mystery Booster 2 Booster Display (Manapool) $320.28 -> $275.91 (-13.86%) as its listings surged avg qty 19.9 -> 52.7 (+165.47%), and Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Booster Display (Manapool) $163.46 -> $144.24 (-11.76%) as listings surged avg qty 17.6 -> 47.3 (+169.11%). Underneath, the Manapool Hobbit shelf mostly built ahead of release, The Hobbit Gift Bundle (Manapool) up 88.31%, The Hobbit Collector Booster Pack (Manapool) up 70.98%, The Hobbit Collector Booster Display (Manapool) up 65.77%, The Hobbit Draft Night (Manapool) up 103.23% under its own small-supply flag, and The Hobbit Play Booster Display (Manapool) up 41.39%, while Edge of Eternities Play Booster Display (Manapool) drained 29.53% and Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Display (Manapool) drained 25.57%.
Supply / Velocity Read-Through
The tight end is still all Hobbit, still preorder, none of it openable until the 14th. Even the Prerelease Pack shelf is being fed, up 48.52%, while six of the set’s SKUs turn over several times their inventory a week. The tight list below is a single unreleased set.
Marvel’s restock kept landing. Every non-premium Commander deck gained listings, Doom Prevails the most at +38.90% and Avengers Assemble at +28.30%, and the Marvel Super Heroes Gift Bundle worked off a quarter of its launch pile, avg qty down 25.73%. The premium tier still hasn’t gotten its wave: the one Collectors Edition with enough sales to read, Doom Prevails Collectors Edition, kept draining 23.14% while its regular sibling flooded. Two weeks now I’ve asked whether that tier holds on demand or on scarcity, and it’s still open.
The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug held on TCGPlayer with more sellers than the week before, while its set-mate The Hobbit Scene Box Crack the Plates pulled a 55.25% jump in sellers and did nothing with it.
The drain I flagged last week came back. Duskmourn House of Horror Play Booster Display gave up 34.20% of its shelf and Magic The Gathering Foundations Play Booster Display another 22.55%, both with prices ticking up and neither out of print, while Tarkir Dragonstorm Play Booster Display, the third box in last week’s version, flattened. Two newcomers took the same shape: Aetherdrift Collector Booster Display off 43.66% at a price up 6.00%, and Star Trek Play Booster Display off 25.78% four months before it releases. Edge of Eternities Commander Decks Set of 2 came in 26.18% too. I have no cause for any of it.
One shelf filled up instead of draining. Mystery Booster 2 Booster Display saw listings jump 35.12% and sellers 34.19%, the deprecation showing up as inventory now that its replacement is confirmed and holders are clearing the old SKU while it trades. TCGPlayer swallowed the supply and held; Manapool gave way.

Tightest inventory on TCGPlayer is a set that hasn’t shipped: The Hobbit Play Booster Display (sell-through 4.0409 at avg qty 348.2, up 13.88%), The Hobbit Gift Bundle (3.6064 at avg qty 58.0, down 46.73%), The Hobbit Collector Booster Display (3.0296 at avg qty 168.7, down 22.53%), The Hobbit Bundle (1.9351 at avg qty 178.3, up 27.30%), The Hobbit Draft Night (1.8192 at avg qty 114.3, down 26.80%), The Hobbit Collector Booster Pack (1.6404 at avg qty 144.5, down 13.82%), and The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug (1.6350). The only product outside the set clearing above 1.0 is The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Deck Veloci Ramp Tor at 1.0633.
Heaviest inventory is the Marvel overhang, still the biggest piles in the dataset: Marvel Super Heroes Play Booster Display (avg qty 807.2, sell-through 0.2292), Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Pack (804.0, 0.1132), and Marvel Super Heroes Bundle (667.0, 0.1334), with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Play Booster Display (507.7) and Avatar The Last Airbender Play Booster Display (503.4) behind them.
Coverage was complete this week, 100% across 534 located sellers. Washington ran the map again at 13.0% of located supply, 14,018 units, with Seattle alone accounting for 10,978 of them. California followed at 7.9% (8,501 units), Idaho at 6.7% (7,174), Florida at 6.4% (6,896), New York at 6.3% (6,793), Texas at 5.6% (5,986), and Oregon at 5.2% (5,642). After Seattle, the busiest cities were Bayamon, Puerto Rico at 2,915 units, Liberty, Indiana at 2,791, South Williamson, Kentucky at 2,479, and Quebec at 2,452.
A couple of moves need a caution label. The Hobbit Scene Box Treasures of Smaug (Manapool) and The Hobbit Draft Night (Manapool) both carry baseline_small_supply flags, so their Manapool moves sit on tiny listing bases and shouldn’t be read for magnitude. More broadly, almost every Manapool figure this week rests on 3 to 13 units, so treat the whole Manapool column as direction and not size.
Opinionated Takeaways
Strength Is At The Poles, Weakness In The Middle
Every dollar of strength this week sat at one of two poles: boxes you can’t open yet, and boxes you can’t get anymore. Both are supply bets. The stuff between them, the freshly shipped product people actually rip for singles, is what got marked down. That’s a tape you can sell into happily and should think twice about buying, at least the parts of it that still exist in quantity.
Marvel Is A Managed Bleed, Not A Crash
The delayed restock keeps arriving in waves, and each wave puts more product on the shelf and takes a few points off the price. That’s every Marvel name on the decliner list. It isn’t demand falling apart, it’s supply finally catching up to a launch that shipped late, and it has further to run, because the premium Collectors Edition tier still hasn’t gotten its shipment. If you hold this, the move is patience: the bottom is whenever the waves stop, and they haven’t stopped.
Trust The Busy Venue
Two products made the same point this week. Treasures of Smaug held its price on TCGPlayer and gave the whole move back on Manapool. Mystery Booster 2 swallowed a supply dump on TCGPlayer without flinching and dropped on Manapool. When a marketplace barely trades a product, its price is a small sample, and when the deep venue and the thin one disagree, the deep one is the number that means anything.
The Old-Box Drain Is A Pattern Now
Twice now, unrelated play boxes years apart in age and none of them out of print have each shed about a third of their shelves while prices held or climbed, and this week a Star Trek box that hasn’t even released joined them. I can’t tell you what’s pulling the listings off the market. What I can tell you is that once is a fluke and twice gets written down, so it’s down, and a third week stops being a coincidence.
What To Watch Next Week
The collector tier into release. It was the week’s top seller by volume and its price eased a little, and it’s where all the Hobbit action sits. Prerelease runs August 7 to 13, release is the 14th. Once the boxes can actually be opened and singles set a floor, that price means something. Until then it’s preorder sentiment, and I’d read this week’s dip as sellers meeting the hype, nothing more.
The Marvel premium tier. The regular decks and Jumpstart flooded; the Collectors Editions kept draining. Whenever their wave lands, we find out whether that tier was ever priced on real demand or only on short supply. Two weeks asking, still no answer.
A third week of the old-box drain. Duskmourn, Foundations, Aetherdrift, and Star Trek all shed real inventory with no catalyst anyone can name. A third straight week makes it a signal worth acting on; a bounce makes it noise. Either way it shows up plainly in the supply line.

Calculation Notes & Disclaimers
- Metrics are based on MTGsold internal sales/listing snapshots for the report window only.
avg qty= average of daily inventory (most complete scrape per day, by seller coverage), not a sum of all intraday listings.sell-through=units sold this week / avg qty this week; values above 1 indicate inventory turned over multiple times.- Percentage changes are week-over-week versus the prior-week baseline; very small baselines can exaggerate % moves.
- Listings are marketplace snapshots and may include relists, temporary removals, and scrape gaps, so flagged low-confidence moves should be treated cautiously.
- Marketplace sections are segmented to avoid cross-stream blending of metrics.
